Silly Performing Boy / Playing At Cottage / Canada Day / Feeding Yourself / Fun On Slide

Hi Baby Will!

Silly Performer

I think you just might be a silly performer just like your sister Emma.  You seem to love when being silly and making people laugh.  Yesterday while walking around, you came up to me, put your mouth on my arm and blew raspberries.  We laughed, and you looked up with a grin and giggled.  So you kept doing it and grinning and laughing when we laughed.

Last week, while eating in a restaurant, I put on a paper pirate hat … it made you laugh.  Every time I put it on you, you’d grin big … and then you would turn to Mommy with a big grin on your face as if to say, “I’m being silly Mommy… look at me .. laugh at me.”  You grinned and giggled more when we laughed at you.  Here you are … such a silly boy.

Playing At Cottage

You have so much fun at the cottage.  You walk all around the deck, crawl up and down the stairs, and crawl and walk on the walkway, over to the sandbox, etc.  Its so nice because we can just let you go and just keep an eye on you.  We recently bought you and Emma a water and sand table.  You spend so much time over at it playing with the sand and water.  I’m glad we got it because you love it.  Here’s you and Emma playing together at the sand and water table.

Canada Day

We always have fun on Canada Day.  We have fun at the cottage all day, watch the Charlottetown fireworks across the water from the deck and set off a few of our own fireworks down by the water.  Here’s a picture of you, Emma and her friend Delilah on the deck a while before the fireworks.  You guys were laughing and drumming on the deck box with your hands.  In this photo, I think you are wiggling your hips and dancing.  Cute boy.

Feeding Yourself

You sure are growing up.  I took some pictures of you on Canada Day.  You were holding a spoon and eating applesauce all by yourself.

Fun On Slide

You and Emma have lots of fun on the swing and slide.  When I put you up on the deck, you have a great laugh when I peek at you between the railing boards.  You move quickly back and forth from the slide end to the rock wall end and back and forth.  I run back and forth to head you off and make sure you don’t fall off.  You laugh hysterically the whole time.  Emma likes taking you down the slide with her.  You used to be a bit nervous, but when this photo was taken (July 4th), you loved it and had a great time.

Beach Day / Eating Lemons / Dipping Fries

Beach Day

We decided to take a drive east today.  We dropped Devon off at St Peters Campground with Noah, went to the Fortune Beach and visited Old Nanny and Grammie.  You had a lot of fun at the beach.  You loved playing in the sand, you loved playing in the water, and you loved playing on the sand bars.  You didn’t even put much sand in your mouth.  Below there is a picture of you having fun at the water edge with the waves lapping at your feet.  Over the course of a few photos, you were having fun, you were playing, you were smiling, and then you were screaming.  You really did have a great time.

Eating Lemons

You silly silly boy.  We went to the Sheltered Harbour restaurant in Souris again after visiting Old Nanny.  I have pictures of you from May trying a lemon and making a sour face.  Today, you were reaching for the lemon from my caesar salad.  You really wanted it.  I took out the seeds and gave it to you.  You munched on it for a long while without making a sour face at all.  You loved it.  You pretty well devoured it.  I had to take it from you when we were leaving.  There was barely half the rind left.  Silly boy.

Dipping Fries In Ketchup (First Time)

You were a hungry boy.  You were grabbing at my food.  Instead of breaking fries and chicken up into small pieces like we usually do for you, I decided to give you whole fries.  You dipped them in the ketchup on my plate and ate them up.  That was the first time I seen you dipping something and eating it yourself.

Walking So Great / No To Billy / Brushing Hair

Hi Wonderful Will!

Walking Great

You started standing and walking a little while ago, but over the past couple days you’ve really taken off.  You’ve been walking around so much.  When we put you down on your feet, you keep standing up, and then start walking around.  You can walk around, stop, bend over and pick something up and keep walking again.  You climb to your feet from a sitting or crawling position and start walking around.  A couple days ago you were pretty unsteady on your feet and walked around pretty slowly, step by step, but you’ve been better every day.  We all kept saying that we can’t believe how much progress you’ve made in walking in just a few days.

It was a really nice day, so we went to Nana’s and Grumpy’s at the cottage after work.  You had lots of fun walking around everywhere.  Here you are strutting around and having a blast.  You might notice that your face is really dirty.  You had a couple freezies … you were covered in sticky freezie juice and dirt.

IMG_5187 crop

You silly boy.  One of the neighbour's little girls was riding your truck around on the deck with her puppy in the back.  You were walking along behind as she went back and forth.  When she got to the end of the deck at each end, she would stop with her feet.  You wanted to keep going.  You’d keep pushing and when she didn’t move, you’d lean into it to get the power to push her.  We had to stop you from pushing the car over the edge each time.  You silly little bull.

IMG_5211 crop

No To Billy & Others

You uncle Billy is home this week.  Its funny and kinda cute … every time he comes up to you, puts his hands out and asks “do you want to come with me now”, you shake your head no right way, every time he asks.  You also do that to Mommy sometimes.  If I pick you up in my arms when we get you at the babysitter, Mommy puts her hands out to take you, and you shake your head no … sometimes you shake your head and then turn and move your head away from Mommy to snub her even more.  Sometimes, in addition to shaking your head, you swat her hands away from you.  It usually only lasts a couple tries, and then you reach for Mommy.

Here is a photo that I took from a video that shows you shaking your head no as Billy reaches for you and asks if you want to come up with him.  Silly boy.

No To Billy

Brushing Your Hair, Using Phone & Remote

You’re such a smart boy.  When you pick up a phone, you put it up to your ear.  When you pick up the TV remote, you start pushing buttons and you turn to the TV to see if its doing anything.  Last week I snapped a picture of you when you started brushing your hair after you picked up a brush.  Smart boy!

1st Hair Cut / Blowing Your Nose

Hi Sweet Will!

First Haircut …. Kinda

You had your first real haircut today at OT Hair Cutters.  You really needed it because your hair was getting pretty thick and long.  I think the long hairs over your ears bothered you too.  You did get a little trim a couple months ago when Brenna was getting her hair done in Kinkora, but they didn’t really cut much off your hair at all.  We saved some bits of the hair they cut, but I think we lost them.

Here you are getting clipped.  Mommy sat you on her knee and held your head still,

IMG_1482 crop

I made sure to save some of your hair clippings.

Blowing Your Nose

You silly boy.  A few times I noticed you grabbing a tissue from the box, putting it up to your nose, and blowing out through your nose.  I had my camera nearby today so I got a couple photos of you doing it.  Cute silly boy.

Official First Steps

Hi Big Boy!

Today we can say that you officially started walking.  Sherry, your babysitter, told us when we picked you up this evening that you took a few steps today.  When we got you home, the first thing we did was try to get you to take some steps for us … and get the video camera rolling.  I took two videos of us trying to get you to walk.  Most of the time, you wouldn’t try to walk … we’d try to stand you up and you’d let your knees buckle, and sit on your bum.  You did take some steps for us a few times.  Here are a couple photos I pulled out of the videos.

Where’s Your Hand!!!

Hi Wonderful Baby Will!

This evening when I was putting your jammies on you, your hand didn’t come out of your sleeve when I was putting your shirt on.  I grabbed your arm and shook it as I said “where’s your hand!!!  aaaaaaa!!!  where’s your hand!!!!”  You giggled and laughed each time I did it.  You’re such a cute little boy.  I used to do the same thing to Emma when I was getting her dressed.  She used to think it was pretty funny too.  I posted a story about it in her blog when she was younger.

8th Tooth

Hi Little Baby Will!

Mommy realized tonight that you now have 4 teeth on the bottom.  I’ve seen those teeth for a little while now, but I didn’t really think that they were new.  I guess I was thinking that you already had 4 on both the top and bottom, but I was wrong.  There you have it… you now have 8 teeth.  The two new are the ones on either side of two front bottom ones.  I think more on the top may be on their way.

I’m glad that you aren’t biting very often anymore.

I love you handsome Will!

Peek-a-Boo

Hi Silly Will!

Today we noticed that you react when we say peek-a-boo.  The silly thing is that you cover your ears instead of your eyes when we say it.
IMG_1460crop
I sat you on the couch to try to get a picture.  After a little while, I finally captured a picture of you reacting to peek-a-boo.  You kept trying to get away every time I sat you up and started saying peek-a-boo.  You’d try to get away, and I’d push you back up.  Every time I pushed you back you giggled and laughed like crazy.  I was glad to finally get you to cover your ears once for a picture.

Good With Sippy Cup / Daddy’s Boy / Love Playing With Cars / Walking Well Holding On

Hi Sweet Baby Will!

Getting Good With Your Sippy Cup

It hasn’t been long since we started giving you a sippy cup, but lately you’ve been doing really well with it.  You can even hold it by yourself.  You’ve been doing great drinking from it too.  You had been choking on the apple juice but you’ve been doing better lately.

IMG_3181 crop

Holding Your Bottle By Yourself

This evening, I made you a bottle and layed down with you in my bed like I usually do.  As usual, you grabbed your soother and threw it aside.  You usually are very happy to see the bottle and drink it until its gone …. and it usually doesn’t take you very long.  This evening after a short drink, you pulled the bottle out of your mouth.  I tried to give it to you several times, but you kept batting it away.  You then grabbed it from me with two hands and put it in your mouth.  You drank most of the bottle holding it by yourself.

Walking With One Hand On Your Toy Walker

You have a four wheeled walker with a shopping cart type handle.  You like to hold on to it and push it around.  Last night you were pushing it around with one hand while you carried your sippy cup in your other hand.  Here’s a picture of you with your walker a couple weeks ago.

IMG_1067 crop

Walking Well When Holding Someone's Hands

Lately you’ve been walking very well if someone is holding your hands.  You also stand up without holding on.  You even stand up without holding on to anything.  I’m sure you will be walking soon.

Love Playing With Cars

You have lots of fun playing with big cars.  You sit down on the floor with your hand on a car and you run it back and forth and back and forth.  Here you are with one of Emma’s old toys.  You like this one a lot.

IMG_1057 crop

Daddy’s Boy

As I was writing this, a little after 10 PM, you woke up crying.  I went upstairs to get you.  I put your blankie on my shoulder and you snuggled your head on your blanket like you usually do.  I took you downstairs and put you in Mommy’s arms on the couch while I went to make you a bottle.  I then gave the bottle to Mommy to give to you and sat down on the couch.  Mommy tried to give you the bottle, but you just stared at me with a sad look on your face.  You were looking at me as if to say, what do you mean you’re not going to snuggle me and give me the bottle Daddy?  Your sad face soon turned to crying and tears.  So, I picked you up, snuggled you in my arms with  your blankie and gave you your bottle.  You stopped crying right away and drank your bottle.  When you were done, I put you back to bed.

Sleeping Well …. Not Really

You haven’t been sleeping very well for a long while.  I’d like to know why you wake up several times each night.  You usually go to bed around 7 or 8.  Some nights, like tonight, you wake up around 10.  You’ll probably wake up crying at least one more time tonight too.  Last night, you woke around midnight, then around 2, then around 4, and then around 530 or so and stayed awake then.

Its not very often that I can just pick you up, snuggle you for a minute and put you back to bed.  We usually bring you in our bed.  We usually make you a bottle and you drink it quickly, and then you go back to sleep in your bed.

There was a while when you were much younger that you were sleeping through the night.  I hope you start sleeping through the night again soon.  I’d be happy even if you only got up once through the night.

Crawling Down Steps To Sun Porch

The day after your birthday, I took some pictures of you crawling down the step into the sun porch at Nana’s and Grumpy’s.  It was pretty impressive, but its old news since you’ve been crawling up and down the outside deck stairs.

IMG_1116 crop

Playing Guitar

When you got down in the sun porch, you started playing with your uncle Billy’s guitar.  Well, you were more whacking it your hand than playing it.  We won’t tell him … haha.

Standing, Walking While Holding, Climbing Deck Steps, Not Afraid Of Grass, Funny Faces

Hi Wonderful Boy!

Standing Without Holding On

For the last week or so, you’ve been starting to let go of the things you’re holding onto and stay standing up.  At first it was just for a very short time until you fell on your bum or held onto something again.  Now you do it for much longer.  Even if we stand you up, and then let go of your hands, you keep on standing up.  You’re such a big boy!

Walking Around While Holding On

You will be walking on your own soon.  You can walk all around the coffee table while holding onto it.  You push things like your Leapfrog piano/music table all around the house walking behind it.  You push your highchair all around too.  You’ve also been walking while holding onto our hands.  Here you are pushing your high chair around.  Such a cute happy boy.

IMG_1249 crop

Took Steps

Yesterday we were getting you to walk around while holding your hands.  We tried to get you to walk a couple steps to me and then to mommy.  You actually took about 2 steps on your own.  Well, Grumpy said it looked like a step and a stumble.  Its pretty exciting.  We are in no rush for you to walk, because you are bad enough crawling, but its exciting to see you progressing so quickly.

Climbing Stairs At Home

You can climb the stairs at home pretty quickly now.  We’ll have to keep the bottom of the stairs blocked off, because you head for the stairs and start climbing before we even know it.  I tried to let you climb back downstairs.  You went down a couple stairs on your hands and knees, and then you stumbled and fell…. but I caught you.  You’ll need a little more practice going down.

Crawling On Hands and Knees Really Fast

You are so fast on your hands and knees.  That way you can find stuff and get into trouble faster.  You still bum schooch around a little when you don’t have too far to go.

Crawling Up and Down The Deck Steps At Nana’s and Grumpy’s

This weekend, you went up and down the steps to the deck at the cottage a bunch of times on your own.  You crawl up on your hands and knees and you crawl down head first on your hands and knees too.  I don’t think you had any major stumbles or falls either.  We’re all so proud of you.  You’ve been crawling on the steps for a couple weeks, but you did really well this weekend.  Here you are climbing up the steps.

IMG_3140 crop

Here you are on another day sitting on the steps after climbing up and down a few times.  You are so proud of yourself!

IMG-20120525-00135 crop

Not Afraid of The Grass Anymore

Well, you certainly aren’t afraid of the grass anymore.  When we were in Mexico, I sat you on the grass next to a pool and you screamed.  Now you crawl all over the grass.

IMG_3069 crop

Drummer

I took some photos of you yesterday playing with one of Emma’s drums.  You were tapping on the drum with the sticks.  You were also tapping on one of her toy pianos with the sticks too.

IMG_1307 crop

Handsome Little Boy

On the weekend while we were visiting Nana and Grumpy, I took a bunch of photos of you in the grass under the apple tree.  The ground was white with apple blossoms … the pictures turned out nice.  You’re such a wonderful handsome little boy!

IMG_3095 crop

Talking … Maybe?

All the sounds you make are so cute.  You make the little sounds with expression as if you are talking or trying to say something.  When you’re mad, you make louder angrier sounds.  When you are happy, you make softer cuter sounds.  Its hard to describe the sounds …  I’ve been taking some videos of you lately to capture your cute little sounds.

Understand What We Say?

On the weekend, Mommy and I were talking to you.  Mommy said where’s your ooosh (that’s what she calls your soother).  Right away you repeated “oooooos” or something like that.  Every time we asked you where it was, you’d pick it up, raise it in the air over your head with excitement, and then bang it down on the bed where you were sitting.

There are other times when we are talking to you or asking you something and you seem to understand with the way you react, the expressions you make and the sounds you make.

Funny Face

Lately you’ve been making a funny face.  You do it to show displeasure or when you don’t want something.  Here you are making your funny face at a restaurant when we went to visit Old Nanny.  You cute silly boy.

IMG_1167-crop

Here you are trying a lemon.  Mmmmmm.  Emma and your cousin Jenna were eating lemons so we decided to see if you liked them.  I think you liked it a little.  This was your first reaction.

Here’s a better pose.  You are such an adorable little boy.

Climbed Stairs To Top / Painted Another Picture.

Hi Handsome Baby Will!

Climbed To Top Of Stairs By Yourself

You climbed all the way to the top of the stairs all by yourself.  I stayed behind you to make sure you didn’t fall down.  You stumbled three times near the top.  Twice you just fell down to your knees and got up yourself.  The third time was the same thing except I stopped you with my hand.  I don’t think you would have fallen down…  you could have made it all the way to the top all by yourself with only a couple stumbles.

Painted Another Picture

You painted your second work of art last night.  I sat you down in front of the canvas.  You weren’t too interested in using the brushes.  I gave you a brush with blue paint on it.  You touched the canvas with my help, then put the brush in your mouth.  You just weren’t in the mood to paint with brushes.  I several blobs of different colour paint on the canvas and let you touch it with your hands.  You rubbed the paint around with your fingers.  I took it away and washed your hands before you made too much of a mess.  Here’s a cute picture of you getting started.

Pulling Laundry From Basket

You pulled yourself up to a tall basked of clean laundry.  As you stood there you pulled out clothes one by one and threw them on the floor.  You even got cranky when you couldn’t get one of my sweaters out because it was big and stuck under other clothes.  Silly boy.

Vaccinations / Drinking From Straw / Pudding / Bothering Emma & Laughing

Hi Cute Baby!

Pediatricians Appointment

You had an appointment with the Pediatricians yesterday morning as a follow up to your hospital stay before we go away next week. He said you are doing well. He said that the result of a viral swab the did on you when you were in the hospital said you had two viruses at the same time … adenovirus and rhinovirus. He said that you did extremely well recovering considering that you had those viruses. He said it was a good thing that you went to the hospital and were getting prednisone.

You've been waking up a few times through the night. He said you may be having some reflux from the respiratory mucus, so he prescribed you something for that. He also said that you don't need to be getting a bottle through the night when you wake up. So I guess we'll try to stop that. He said you're a big healthy boy and don't need a bottle through the night. If we keep giving it to you, you will keep waking up looking for it.

You woke up once last night.  I just snuggled you in my bed and put you back in your crib after you settled.  You got up early in the morning.  We gave you a bottle and you slept a little while longer.

Vaccinations

You also got your vaccinations yesterday morning. The pediatricians wanted you to get them before we go to Mexico. They didn't take your measurements but they did at the pediatricians office. Mommy didn't write them down, but said you are around 24 lbs. I tried to measure you on the floor at home, but its pretty hard to be accurate … you keep squirming and don’t straighten out very well.  I estimated that you are just under 750 mm long.  In mid-March, you were measured at the doctor office to be 743 mm.  We have that written on the wall, so we’ll wait for your next measurement to put another one on the wall.

You did really well with the vaccinations.  You got 2 needles in one arm and 1 in the other.  You were happy all day after your needles.  My big tough happy boy.

Drinking With Straw

Earlier this week, we went out to eat.  Mommy and I were giving you orange juice through a straw.  We were holding juice in the straw and putting it in your mouth.  We tried to get you to drink straight from the straw in the cup, but you’re not ready for that yet.

IMG_8141-crop

First Pudding

The kids meal that we got for you came with a pudding dessert.  It was your first taste of chocolate pudding.  You loved it.

Bothering Your Sister and The Dog – Excited Laugh

Last night, you were on the floor and kept schooching over to grab the dog.  Each time I said no, you let out an excited, hysterical laugh and tried to move faster.  Later you moved on to your sister where she was watching TV on her couch.  You kept trying to climb on her and grab her.  You kept doing your excited laugh when I was telling you no.
