Good With Sippy Cup / Daddy’s Boy / Love Playing With Cars / Walking Well Holding On

Hi Sweet Baby Will!

Getting Good With Your Sippy Cup

It hasn’t been long since we started giving you a sippy cup, but lately you’ve been doing really well with it.  You can even hold it by yourself.  You’ve been doing great drinking from it too.  You had been choking on the apple juice but you’ve been doing better lately.

Holding Your Bottle By Yourself

This evening, I made you a bottle and layed down with you in my bed like I usually do.  As usual, you grabbed your soother and threw it aside.  You usually are very happy to see the bottle and drink it until its gone …. and it usually doesn’t take you very long.  This evening after a short drink, you pulled the bottle out of your mouth.  I tried to give it to you several times, but you kept batting it away.  You then grabbed it from me with two hands and put it in your mouth.  You drank most of the bottle holding it by yourself.

Walking With One Hand On Your Toy Walker

You have a four wheeled walker with a shopping cart type handle.  You like to hold on to it and push it around.  Last night you were pushing it around with one hand while you carried your sippy cup in your other hand.  Here’s a picture of you with your walker a couple weeks ago.

Walking Well When Holding Someone's Hands

Lately you’ve been walking very well if someone is holding your hands.  You also stand up without holding on.  You even stand up without holding on to anything.  I’m sure you will be walking soon.

Love Playing With Cars

You have lots of fun playing with big cars.  You sit down on the floor with your hand on a car and you run it back and forth and back and forth.  Here you are with one of Emma’s old toys.  You like this one a lot.

Daddy’s Boy

As I was writing this, a little after 10 PM, you woke up crying.  I went upstairs to get you.  I put your blankie on my shoulder and you snuggled your head on your blanket like you usually do.  I took you downstairs and put you in Mommy’s arms on the couch while I went to make you a bottle.  I then gave the bottle to Mommy to give to you and sat down on the couch.  Mommy tried to give you the bottle, but you just stared at me with a sad look on your face.  You were looking at me as if to say, what do you mean you’re not going to snuggle me and give me the bottle Daddy?  Your sad face soon turned to crying and tears.  So, I picked you up, snuggled you in my arms with  your blankie and gave you your bottle.  You stopped crying right away and drank your bottle.  When you were done, I put you back to bed.

Sleeping Well …. Not Really

You haven’t been sleeping very well for a long while.  I’d like to know why you wake up several times each night.  You usually go to bed around 7 or 8.  Some nights, like tonight, you wake up around 10.  You’ll probably wake up crying at least one more time tonight too.  Last night, you woke around midnight, then around 2, then around 4, and then around 530 or so and stayed awake then.

Its not very often that I can just pick you up, snuggle you for a minute and put you back to bed.  We usually bring you in our bed.  We usually make you a bottle and you drink it quickly, and then you go back to sleep in your bed.

There was a while when you were much younger that you were sleeping through the night.  I hope you start sleeping through the night again soon.  I’d be happy even if you only got up once through the night.

Crawling Down Steps To Sun Porch

The day after your birthday, I took some pictures of you crawling down the step into the sun porch at Nana’s and Grumpy’s.  It was pretty impressive, but its old news since you’ve been crawling up and down the outside deck stairs.

Playing Guitar

When you got down in the sun porch, you started playing with your uncle Billy’s guitar.  Well, you were more whacking it your hand than playing it.  We won’t tell him … haha.

Standing, Walking While Holding, Climbing Deck Steps, Not Afraid Of Grass, Funny Faces

Hi Wonderful Boy!

Standing Without Holding On

For the last week or so, you’ve been starting to let go of the things you’re holding onto and stay standing up.  At first it was just for a very short time until you fell on your bum or held onto something again.  Now you do it for much longer.  Even if we stand you up, and then let go of your hands, you keep on standing up.  You’re such a big boy!

Walking Around While Holding On

You will be walking on your own soon.  You can walk all around the coffee table while holding onto it.  You push things like your Leapfrog piano/music table all around the house walking behind it.  You push your highchair all around too.  You’ve also been walking while holding onto our hands.  Here you are pushing your high chair around.  Such a cute happy boy.

Took Steps

Yesterday we were getting you to walk around while holding your hands.  We tried to get you to walk a couple steps to me and then to mommy.  You actually took about 2 steps on your own.  Well, Grumpy said it looked like a step and a stumble.  Its pretty exciting.  We are in no rush for you to walk, because you are bad enough crawling, but its exciting to see you progressing so quickly.

Climbing Stairs At Home

You can climb the stairs at home pretty quickly now.  We’ll have to keep the bottom of the stairs blocked off, because you head for the stairs and start climbing before we even know it.  I tried to let you climb back downstairs.  You went down a couple stairs on your hands and knees, and then you stumbled and fell…. but I caught you.  You’ll need a little more practice going down.

Crawling On Hands and Knees Really Fast

You are so fast on your hands and knees.  That way you can find stuff and get into trouble faster.  You still bum schooch around a little when you don’t have too far to go.

Crawling Up and Down The Deck Steps At Nana’s and Grumpy’s

This weekend, you went up and down the steps to the deck at the cottage a bunch of times on your own.  You crawl up on your hands and knees and you crawl down head first on your hands and knees too.  I don’t think you had any major stumbles or falls either.  We’re all so proud of you.  You’ve been crawling on the steps for a couple weeks, but you did really well this weekend.  Here you are climbing up the steps.

Here you are on another day sitting on the steps after climbing up and down a few times.  You are so proud of yourself!

Not Afraid of The Grass Anymore

Well, you certainly aren’t afraid of the grass anymore.  When we were in Mexico, I sat you on the grass next to a pool and you screamed.  Now you crawl all over the grass.

Drummer

I took some photos of you yesterday playing with one of Emma’s drums.  You were tapping on the drum with the sticks.  You were also tapping on one of her toy pianos with the sticks too.

Handsome Little Boy

On the weekend while we were visiting Nana and Grumpy, I took a bunch of photos of you in the grass under the apple tree.  The ground was white with apple blossoms … the pictures turned out nice.  You’re such a wonderful handsome little boy!

Talking … Maybe?

All the sounds you make are so cute.  You make the little sounds with expression as if you are talking or trying to say something.  When you’re mad, you make louder angrier sounds.  When you are happy, you make softer cuter sounds.  Its hard to describe the sounds …  I’ve been taking some videos of you lately to capture your cute little sounds.

Understand What We Say?

On the weekend, Mommy and I were talking to you.  Mommy said where’s your ooosh (that’s what she calls your soother).  Right away you repeated “oooooos” or something like that.  Every time we asked you where it was, you’d pick it up, raise it in the air over your head with excitement, and then bang it down on the bed where you were sitting.

There are other times when we are talking to you or asking you something and you seem to understand with the way you react, the expressions you make and the sounds you make.

Funny Face

Lately you’ve been making a funny face.  You do it to show displeasure or when you don’t want something.  Here you are making your funny face at a restaurant when we went to visit Old Nanny.  You cute silly boy.

Here you are trying a lemon.  Mmmmmm.  Emma and your cousin Jenna were eating lemons so we decided to see if you liked them.  I think you liked it a little.  This was your first reaction.

Here’s a better pose.  You are such an adorable little boy.
